Bierbaum-Proenen GmbH & Co. KG, a German workwear firm, joined FWF on 1 July 2010.
The company Bierbaum-Proenen (BP) meets FWF's management system requirements and goes beyond them.
In August 2012 Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) conducted a brand performance check at BP. BP has been affiliated to FWF for two years and has focused on improvement of labour standards at factory level.
BP has developed routines that are incorporated in their ISO 9001 quality
management system. During the first and second year of BP's membership, the company audited production facilities supplying 88 percent of BP’s products. BP audited seven of its most important factories, one of which is also SA8000 certified. At all audited factories, all of the points in the corrective action plan have been followed up on and outcomes are
well documented.
BP has chosen to communicate clearly about the company’s affiliation to FWF and has informed customers in several different ways about its commitment to decent working conditions. In 2012 BP handed in it’s first social report, which they distributed through a variety of channels.
Internally, BP trains staff about social standards twice a year, thus informing and updating all existing and new staff about FWF affiliation.
In 2012 BP has started addressing the challenge to work towards higher wage levels at their suppliers. Starting point is an analysis and comparison of minimum wages to living wages before and after social audits.
