Mammut meets most of FWF’s management system requirements and goes beyond several. Mammut has monitored 97% of its production locations by conducting FWF audits, audits by other FWF members or external audits that met FWF's quality standards and by fulfilling monitoring requirements for low risk countries. Mammut's monitoring percentage exceeds the 90% monitoring threshold required for companies that have been a member for more than three years.
Mammut has shown particular achievements in cooperating with other brands and sharing learnings and tools. A mostly stable supplier base built on long-term partnerships as well as considerable leverage at most suppliers allows Mammut to work efficiently on improving labour conditions. While challenges with excessive overtime findings remain, Mammut's production planning generally supports reasonable working hours at factory level.
Mammut also has a thorough due diligence and risk management system in place. At the same time the company faced challenges in 2015 to ensure that production locations selected by its Japanese subsidiary were fully included in Mammut's monitoring system.
As several long-term suppliers of Mammut are shifting production to new regions or countries, Mammut must continue to be aware of possible risks and take necessary steps to address them.
Suppliers should be encouraged to participate in FWF's Workplace Education Programme to stimulate dialogue between workers and management and raise awareness on grievance mechanisms.
