Annual Events

At Fair Wear Foundation, we know there is a better way to make clothes- and we are determined to make it happen! We can’t achieve it alone. We need different players from members, business associations, trade unions, governments and NGO’s. Everyone has an important role to play, and by combining our efforts we can push for bigger more unified change. On Monday 19 and 20 November 2018 we bring all players together. The events are on invitation only. We will send out information about registration to members and stakeholders in mid September.

Suit up—it’s time for concrete action

Let’s find ways to collaborate, build bridges and magnify our impact, both on an individual level and as a community. Change is possible, and even smaller players can achieve breakthroughs. We know our common goal, so what’s holding us back? FWF is sending out a call to action: we’re all in this together and everyone can play a role, so what’s yours?

Member Day

Monday 19 November, 10.30-17.00 at Kanarie Club, Amsterdam
We’ve listened to your feedback and this year we’ve created a full Member Day, taking place the day before the FWF Annual Conference. Here is your chance to meet other members, exchange ideas and learn how to get the most out of your FWF membership. Today is all about building connections and gaining practical knowledge in one-on-one and small group breakout sessions. Come prepared to learn and be inspired!

We are charging a small cost for attending the event – this will help us to manage the event more effectively and to eliminate potential food waste. Due to limited capacity, registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Each member brand can register with a maximum of 2 people, preferably a CSR-manager and/or someone on management level focussed on purchase practices.  Price: 30 EUR.

International Stakeholder day

Monday 19 November, 10.00-17.00 at Fashion for Good, Amsterdam

FWF’s multi-stakeholder structure and approach was brought to life by a strong belief in the power of cooperation. All stakeholders have an important role to play and by combining our efforts we can push for bigger, more unified change. The International Stakeholder Day is the annual opportunity for FWF to bring all of our stakeholders together to discuss key questions that affect the entire industry and the way forward.

This year we will focus on human rights due diligence and how it can impact working conditions in garment supply chains. During the event, different initiatives will offer input on their work and ideas, and we will also hold interactive sessions.

12:00 Overview of existing approaches and experiences

This is a great opportunity to socialise and network with people from the industry that you might not normally have a chance to speak with. Price: 50 EUR.

FWF Annual Conference

Tuesday 20 November, 9.30-18.00 at De Hallen Studio’s, Amsterdam

The 2018 FWF Annual Conference will bring together approximately 200 people from around the globe: representatives of member brands, garment industry stakeholders, media and industry influencers, and members of FWF staff, Committee of Experts and Board of Directors.  This year’s conference is a call for action: it is time for a true revolution in the garment industry and change should start today.

Twenty years ago, only a handful of garment brands focused on ethical clothing, but by now that number has grown exponentially. We’ve made progress in the industry, but we still have far to go. In past years, the Annual Conference has focused on redesigning the garment industry and promoting widespread change by moving ‘From Niche to Norm’. Last year’s programme focused on zooming out from single supply chains, exploring and enlarging your sphere of influence, and working together to take collaborative action. And everything in these past years has built up to our focus for 2018: change needs to happen now.

Keynote speaker

We’re very excited to announce our keynote speaker: one of the world’s most respected and outspoken trend forecasters – Lidewij Edelkoort. Lidewij will present key excerpts from her Anti-Fashion Manifesto in which she argues that ‘fashion is old-fashioned’. She will discuss her ideas on how the industry can catch up with reality and regain its role as a change agent in society.

Furthermore the programme will feature a CEO panel moderated by our Director, Alexander Kohnstamm. CEOs from within and outside the garment sector will jointly reflect on what is holding us back from creating real FAIR WEAR and will share their vision on a sustainable fair garment industry.

In the afternoon, you will gather in working sessions to spark innovative ideas, discuss practical solutions and establish next steps on your journey towards fair fashion. The Annual Conference will wrap up with the FWF’s Annual Award Show.
