Concerning labour standards:
The complainant informed that, as of the peak season starting in June 2018, the workers were required to make a lot of overtime hours. In general, they work 11.5 to 12.5 hours per day, for 6 days a week, from 8:00 to 12:00, 14:00 to 18:00, and from 18:30 to 22:00/23:00 on Mondays through Saturdays. In case of tight delivery, they are also required to work additional 8 overtime hours on Sundays.
The complainant informed they are paid at a fixed hourly rate at 12 RMB per hour for all hours worked including the overtime hours; they are not paid overtime premiums for working night or weekend overtime hours.
The complainant asked FWF to support them to reduce the excessive overtime hours as well as to push the factory to pay correct overtime premiums.
Findings and conclusions
Overview of the complaint investigation
FWF reached out to Suit Supply, the member company sourcing at this factory. Suit Supply mentioned that they stopped sourcing at this factory in March 2018. FWF stated, as per the terms of membership, that if a brand was still active within the last 6 months they have a responsibility to address the problem. Accordingly, Suit Supply addressed the complaint to the factory, but has no leverage to sufficiently follow this up. The relationship was already not very productive as Suit Supply recently stopped sourcing at this factory, this complaint came too late.

FWF apologized to the complainant for not being helpful in this case. The complainant showed understanding and was disappointed.
Due to the fact that Suit Supply had ended the business relationship with the factory prior to receiving the complaint, it has not been possible to further investigate or remedy the complaint. Suit Supply has no leverage in the factory and the relationship was not good enough to follow up without leverage. The complaint therefore has been closed.
