Sandqvist showed advanced results on FWF performance indicators. The brand monitored 89% of its production volume in 2017, which is well above the 60% requirement for the second year of membership. Sandqvist’s benchmarking score is 82, placing the company in the Leader category. Sandqvist started a relationship with two new suppliers in 2017 and continues long-term relationships with its three main suppliers where Sandqvist is piloting efforts on advanced topics of living wage.
Two complaints were received from workers at their Indian supplier, related to discrimination and health & safety, which was immediately discussed with the supplier, Corrective Action Plans defined and monitoring process established. Sandqvist is also in the process of testing solutions to address the issue of excessive overtime due to material related delays. To improve understanding of their complete supply chain, Sandqvist visited spinning, dyeing units and tanneries and their agent is monitoring production for Vietnam and Indian suppliers, also visited at least twice a year by Sandqvist staff. As Sandqvist works towards developing a better understanding of Living wages at supplier locations, it is recommended that Sandqvist also establish a systematic process of integrating this information in the product design and planning stage, to ensure that projected labour costs reflect living wages, and a road-map to achieve it.
