A worker informed FWF about discrimination and bad behaviour of the line supervisor. According to the complainant, the line supervisor treats workers differently. For example, the line supervisor calls the production manager to show the mistakes of workers he/she dislikes to show that these workers are not working properly. This does not happen to workers that have a good relationship with the line supervisor. According to the complainant, many workers in his/ her department have complaints about discrimination. The complainant stated that the line supervisor shouts and talks in an offensive, insulting way. He/she is insulting workers by shouting to them "you are clumsy, you are not careful etc".
FWF's complaints handler in Turkey received a complaint from a factory worker regarding discrimination and bad behaviour of a line supervisor. According to the complainant, only the workers that the line supervisor dislikes are discriminated against and treated badly. FWF declared the complaint admissible and informed Maier Sports, the FWF member sourcing at this factory. Maier reached out to factory management, who stated that the line supervisor and two worker representatives do not recognise the complaint. During a call with the FWF complaints handler, the complainant stated that the problems identified were no longer occurring. The complainant confirmed to withdraw the case. FWF advises Maier to pay additional attention to monitor discrimination and the harassment of workers in this factory. The case is closed.
Maier discussed the complaint with Germaturk. The line supervisor in question and two worker representatives do not recognise the complaint. Further investigation is needed.
The FWF complaints handler reached out to the complainant who indicated that the problems identified in the earlier complaint were not occurring anymore.
The complainant confirmed to withdraw the case, so the case can be closed. FWF recommends that Maier pays additional attention to monitor the situation regarding a safe and healthy workplace free from discrimination.
