A worker filed a complaint on 2 April 2020. The complainant has been working in factory for 5 years, since April 2015.

The complainant is from Hubei province, and due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the entire Hubei province is locked down. This means he cannot return to work on time (factory resumed working as of 18 February 2020). Half a month ago (around 15 Mar 2020), the local government informed him that if a certificate of resumption of work can be issued by his employer in Wenzhou, he can return to work. Then he called factory to request the certificate, but the management of factory refused his request and said due to lack of sufficient orders, his position is no longer needed.

Today (2 April 2020), the complainant visited factory to communicate his job related issue; the management did not agree that the complainant would resume his previous position as a sewer, but instead offered him a job as a security guard with an income of 2500 RMB/month. According to the complainant,. factory management said that if he did not take the job as a security guard, he would be required to resign from factory on his own initiative.

In addition, the complainant stated that his wages of December 2019 and the wages from 1 to 14 January 2020 have not yet been paid.

The complainant expects FWF to help him with the following requests:
1. The first priority for the complainant is to resume his previous position as a sewer at the factory
2. If the first priority fails, the complainant requests factory to pay the outstanding wages of December 2019 and January 2020, plus severance pay.

New complaint

This is a new complaint that FWF has just filed. At this point in the procedure, the complaint is pending investigation, and FWF has not yet proven it to be grounded. Updates to the investigation will follow. The brand is requested to share the complaint with factory management and to get their perspective. Ideally, this includes obtaining documental evidence in addition to a statement from management.
