Compensating the victims of the Rana Plaza factory collapse

On the eve of the second anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, FWF encourages clothing brands and retailers sourcing from Bangladesh, and business associations, to make a donation to the Trust Fund established for the victims and their families.

Fair Wear Foundation supports UNI Global Union, IndustriALL Global Union and the Clean Clothes Campaign in their efforts to close the 8.5 million dollar funding gap. It is calculated that at least 30 million dollars are needed to compensate the over 5,000 individuals with eligible claims. So far 21.5 million dollars have been paid into the Rana Plaza Donors Trust Fund.

Funding has come from buyers, the Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Fund and private donors. All contributions will be used exclusively to make payments to victims of the disaster and their families. Organisations and companies who want to contribute to this fund, can visit this website.
