Deuter wins Fair Wear Best Practice Award

The German sports wear company Deuter has won this year’s FWF Best Practice Award!

Deuter won the award for reducing excessive overtime at one of its Vietnamese suppliers. The jury celebrated Deuter’s ‘courageous investments, both in the production country and at the Deuter headquarters’. ‘The brand’s effective measures to reduce overtime have directly benefitted workers’.

Every year, during the FWF Annual Conference, an award is presented to the FWF member company with the Best Practice: something they’ve been doing to improve labour conditions that is newer, smarter, more effective or simply easier than what FWF asks them to do.

Over 120 representatives from European garment brands and organisations within the textile industry were present at the Annual Conference in the IJkantine in Amsterdam. This year’s theme was: This is What we Do. The Dutch minister Lilianne Ploumen spoke during the conference about the changes since the collapse of Rana Plaza in Bangladesh, exactly two years ago.
