FWF’s director Erica van Doorn presented Fair Wear Foundation at a press conference that was held during Texworld Paris. She also launched the WellMade project in France.
At trade fairs across Europe, brand employees can join free interactive WellMade seminars. They get an insight in the major labour issues they have influence over. During the seminars garment professionals learn in a fun way what they can do in their day-to-day work to improve conditions for factory workers.
During the press conference, that was attended by international journalists, a few manufacturers from Bangladesh called on buyers to take their responsibility; to ask for subcontractors during factory visits and to avoid high pressure on delivery times, topics that are also covered by the WellMade project.
The WellMade seminars were held in Paris for the first time since the official launch in June at the Berlin Fashion Week. During Texworld Paris, Fair Wear Foundation hosted three seminars for visitors and exhibitors. Over the next three years WellMade will visit trade fairs in Paris several times to reach many more brand employees.
At Texworld Paris (16-19 september) about 800 fabric manufacturers from 24 countries present their products.
