FWF shares living wage expertise with governments

Fair Wear Foundation has attended a stakeholder consultation meeting on living wages, hosted by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.

During the meeting in The Hague on 9 September, director Erica van Doorn and verification coordinator Ivo Spauwen shared their expertise on living wages. FWF acknowledges that governmental institutions have made an important step by seeking cooperation and through enforcing decent labour conditions in the area of public procurement.

At the same time, FWF believes that more effort is needed. That is why various stakeholders called upon both governments to give momentum to living wages. Governments play a vital role in creating a level playing field for companies. That should ensure that living wages can be implemented while the companies remain competitive.

Fair Wear Foundation will also be participating in a conference on living wages that will be hosted in Berlin on the 25th and 26th of November. FWF will share research on the relationship between wages and product costs and will also present the Wage Ladder tool.
