Join us at our Pop Up for People Friendly Fashion

[12 November 2019] Your clothes are made by people. Try to really think about that the next time you buy something. Think about it on Black Friday, the worldwide day of buying, buying, buying. Think about the hands that made your t-shirt, the hands of people you don’t know, but to whom you are connected by the clothes you wear. Often these people don’t get paid enough to live well on; to send their children to school or even to eat a nutritious meal.

This year for Black Friday, known as the ‘biggest sales day of the year’, we are organising a Pop Up for #PeopleFriendlyFashion in The Hague, Netherlands. We’re joining forces with CNV Internationaal and Mondiaal FNV and our member brands to share the story behind our clothes, teach people about our unique supply chain approach and encourage consumers to shop consciously.

Date: 28 & 29 November
Time:
13:00-18:00 on 28 November, and 10:00-18:00 on Black Friday, 29 November
Place:
Het Plein, The Hague

(Full programme below)

Let your friends know you’re attending and spread the word through our Facebook event.

The Pop Up will be located in a mobile unit, placed in the heart of The Hague’s shopping, business and political centre, Het Plein.

You’ll be able to shop from some of our member brands, who are all actively working to ensure good working conditions for the people that make their clothes. Participating member brands include:

  • Claudia Sträter
  • Deuter
  • DAWN Denim
  • Expresso
  • Funktion Schnitt
  • Havep
  • Jack Wolfskin
  • Katharine Hamnett
  • King Louie
  • Kings of Indigo
  • Star Sock
  • Vaude

The brands will be exhibiting key pieces from their latest collections, which you are free to try on. If you’d like to buy something, you’ll be given a specific promo code which you’ll be able to enter into one of our in-store iPads to purchase your new sustainable item.

There will be a print expert on-site who will give new life to old stock, by marking each piece with your pledges for #PeopleFriendlyFashion. So, come ready to pledge your support for the conscious cause, and you’ll be able to take your piece home with you!

Some of our brands will also be hosting events and workshops throughout the two afternoons, to help guide consumers on different ways to make more conscious clothing choices. You can get some hands-on experience in upcycling with Vaude, or get creative capsule wardrobe ideas from King Louie. However you want to participate, you’ll leave with new knowledge and inspiration to take with you on your sustainability journey.

Try to make a conscious choice this Black Friday by not mindlessly grabbing at the bargain bin, but by looking at clothes with respect for the people who made it. This way, the clothing we wear will tell a positive story. A story about the garment workers who have overcome poverty and now lead a better life.

Don’t be indifferent. Take it upon yourself to buy consciously. Wear Fair. And be part of the movement for #PeopleFriendlyFashion

We hope to see you there!
