New report: Social Dialogue in Myanmar

[7 January 2020] Our latest report, ‘Workplace social dialogue in Myanmar: experiences and lessons learned’, uses Fair Wear case studies to reflect on the current situation of social dialogue in Myanmar, both in terms of the legal framework and realities on the factory floor.

Experience with social dialogue in Myanmar is relatively limited, but the support of Fair Wear brands working directly with employers and the trust gained from workers through our complaint helpline have enabled us to explore complementary approaches for the resolution of labour disputes in garment factories.

This report outlines existing obstacles and some valuable lessons we’ve learned. We also offer specific recommendations on how stakeholders can facilitate a healthy and sustainable environment for social dialogue, for the long-term betterment of factory conditions.
